By downloading, installing, or using Aiko, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, please don’t use Aiko.


1. What Aiko is

Aiko is an iOS Custom Keyboard Extension that uses AI to suggest reply styles for messages you receive in personal conversations. You paste or select a message, choose a gem (Resonance, Spark, or Deepen), and Aiko returns one or more suggested replies for you to review. You always choose what to send. Aiko does not send messages on your behalf.

2. Who can use Aiko

You must be at least 13 years old to use Aiko. If you are under the age of legal majority in your jurisdiction, you may only use Aiko with the involvement of a parent or guardian. Aiko is intended for personal use in everyday conversations.

3. Your responsibilities

You are responsible for what you send. Aiko produces suggestions — you decide whether to send them, edit them, or ignore them entirely. By using Aiko, you agree not to:

4. AI suggestions are suggestions

Aiko’s output is generated by an AI model and may sometimes be inaccurate, awkward, off-tone, or simply not what you’d actually say. You should read every suggestion before sending it. We make no guarantee that suggestions will be appropriate for any specific person, relationship, situation, or outcome. You are solely responsible for what you choose to send.

Aiko is a writing aid, not a relationship coach, therapist, lawyer, financial advisor, or medical professional. Do not rely on it for advice in any of those domains.

5. Subscriptions

Aiko offers a free tier and a paid subscription (Aiko Pro).

Refunds are handled by Apple under Apple’s refund policy. We are not able to issue refunds directly.

6. Rate limits and fair use

Aiko Pro includes unlimited replies for typical conversational use. To keep the service responsive and prevent abuse, all tiers are subject to fair-use rate limits. During unusually heavy usage by a single account — currently more than 30 requests within a rolling 12-hour window — additional Pro requests will be briefly throttled and resume automatically as your earlier requests age out of the window. Free tier limits are described on Aiko’s App Store listing and in the in-app subscription screen. We reserve the right to adjust rate limits over time as costs and usage evolve. We will give reasonable notice before materially reducing limits for existing paid subscribers.

7. Intellectual property

Aiko, including the app, its design, the gem framework (Resonance, Spark, Deepen), brand marks, and prompt designs, is owned by us. You receive a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use Aiko on iOS devices you own or control, for personal use, while these Terms are in effect.

The suggestions Aiko generates for you are yours to use, send, edit, or ignore. You don’t owe us attribution.

8. Your license to us (for processing your input)

When you submit text to Aiko (for example, by triggering a suggestion on a message you’ve copied), you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide, temporary license to process that text solely to provide, maintain, and secure the service — specifically, to forward it to our AI provider (Anthropic Claude), return suggestions to you, and run our standard abuse-prevention checks (e.g., rate limiting).

We do not claim ownership of your messages or the text you submit. We do not use submitted message text to train Aiko or build user profiles. This license exists only so we can lawfully handle the data while we generate your suggestion, and it ends when the processing is complete. We do not store the text after the request is fulfilled (see the Privacy Policy for details).

9. Third-party services

Aiko uses Anthropic’s Claude API to generate suggestions and Apple’s StoreKit for subscriptions. Your use of those services is governed by their respective terms. We are not responsible for outages, changes, or behavior of third-party services.

10. Privacy

Our handling of data is described in our Privacy Policy at useaiko.com/privacy. In short: we don’t store your messages, we don’t sell your data, and we don’t track you. Please read the Privacy Policy for the full picture.

11. Service availability

We try to keep Aiko available, but we don’t guarantee uninterrupted service. Aiko may be unavailable from time to time for maintenance, upgrades, or reasons outside our control (Apple outages, Anthropic API outages, network issues, etc.). We may also modify or discontinue features at any time.

12. Disclaimers

Aiko is provided “as is” and “as available,” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that Aiko will be uninterrupted, error-free, secure against every threat, or that suggestions will be accurate, appropriate, or successful in any social, romantic, or professional context.

13. Limitation of liability

To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or any loss of profits, revenue, data, goodwill, or relationships, arising out of or in connection with your use of Aiko. Our total cumulative liability to you for any claim related to Aiko is limited to the greater of (a) the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the event giving rise to the claim, or (b) USD $20.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so portions of this section may not apply to you.

14. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any claim, loss, or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your misuse of Aiko, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any law or third-party right.

15. Termination

You may stop using Aiko at any time by disabling the keyboard in iOS Settings or deleting the app. We may suspend or terminate your access to Aiko if you violate these Terms or use Aiko in a way that harms us or other users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (e.g., disclaimers, limitation of liability, indemnification, governing law) will survive.

16. Changes to these Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. The updated version will be posted at useaiko.com/terms with a new effective date. Material changes will also be reflected in the in-app About screen. Continued use of Aiko after a change means you accept the updated Terms.

17. Governing law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Wisconsin, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in Wisconsin, and you consent to the jurisdiction of those courts. If you are a consumer in a jurisdiction that grants you the right to bring a claim in your local courts, this section does not override that right.

18. Apple-required terms (iOS app)

These Terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Aiko or any claims related to it. To the extent these Terms allow it, Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. You represent that you are not located in a country subject to U.S. government embargo and are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
